Since their launch in 2007, the Hotel Cateys have celebrated the most successful hotels, hoteliers and hotel employees across the UK.
I am honoured to have been awarded Hotel Restaurant Chef of the Year at the Hotel Cateys awards this year. Since joining Number one in 2021 I have worked alongside my incredible team to create dishes that showcase the finest local, Scottish and British produce. I am very proud of the Number One team and our dedication to every detail of the process, from sourcing ingredients to our world-class Scottish hospitality.

What an absolutely wild feeling! A Catey is such an iconic award and something I’ve seen all my career and now to have won one is so surreal. It’s a mad one!
Winning Hotel Restaurant Team of the Year means so much to the entire team and is rich recognition of the effort that is put in every day by those front and back of house. To have so many young individuals that are so passionate making up such a large part of the team, it is testament to them and we hope it will only serve to motivate them as they progress through their career. The restaurant has only been open just over a year and it really does show anything is possible as we look to inspire the next generation.
This win means so much to the South Lodge team and to my wider Exclusive Collection colleagues as we've all made a massive commitment to sustainability through our B Corp certification. Being sustainable is in our bones at South Lodge and our ongoing focus continues to be on challenging, changing and championing every touchpoint in the hotel to minimise our impact on the planet.

This category is particularly meaningful as it recognises the investment we have made in technology to improve daily operations for our team, freeing them from hours of repetitive admin in order to do what they really love, which is engage with our guests and other team members to deliver thoughtful, intuitive service across our hotels. This recognition is the icing on the cake following the game changing implementation of Workday across our group, as a world first in the hospitality industry.
